Criterion Tool President Defies the Status Quo

When Rene Banglesdorf, podcast author of Defying the Status Quo with Empowered Women, interviewed Criterion Tool president, Tanya DiSalvo, it got real. “Do you think that when you were a little girl, that your grandpa thought you would run this company?”, Tanya answered firmly with an “Absolutely not! He’s probably turning in his grave”.

Tanya’s been challenging the male-dominated industry of precision machining and manufacturing for quite some time now. In fact, she recently earned the national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Ohio River Valley Council, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC Certification gives women-owned businesses the ability to compete for real-time business opportunities provided by WBENC Corporate Members and government agencies, earning Criterion Tool a competitive advantage.

Tanya and Rene discuss the current struggle of recruiting for trades industries. She openly shares her passion with upcoming youth regarding how rewarding a trades career can be for them and their families. “Our shop is clean. It has white walls and air conditioning. You’re not sending your child to a coal mine. You’re sending them into a high-tech, beautiful facility. They’re running a $500,000 piece of equipment. I’m giving your child the keys to a “Ferrari”. Let’s train them!”
